The plenary assembly the Catholic Bishops of Sudan are holding in Rumbek from Monday will have a two-fold agenda, an official said.

Bishop Rudolph Deng Majak of Wau is the president of the Sudan Catholic Bishops Conference (SCBC). He told Good News Radio that the bishops will discuss internal matters and revisit the pastoral message on the referendum they published at the end of their last meeting in July.

Bishop Deng said the bishops will look at the issue of “justice and good neighbourliness” to meet social obligations and better human relationships by encouraging Sudanese people to shun the mistakes of the last decades like tribalism, corruption, bribery, laziness, and drunkenness.

The SCBC president added that he expected the bishops’ plenary to be an exciting and encouraging moment, especially with the presence of representatives from other African churches.
