Kaffia Genje and Hofra Naias areas were taken from Raja County in Western Bahr el Ghazal state and integrated in South Darfur in 1935.
About 2000 people, including police officers, government officials, traders, and students from six schools were chanting “We need our land back”, Don Bosco Radio reported.
The rally was organized by a committee of people from Kaffia Ganje living in Wau.
The Catholic Radio Network (CRN) is a media project constituted by community-based radio stations broadcasting in Frequency Modulation from Juba, Yei, Torit, Yambio, Rumbek, Tonj, Wau, and Malakal. CRN has also a station in the Nuba Mountains. All the stations share the same vision and mission, and are bound by common editorial and administrative policies. For its outreach, CRN has a potential audience of about seven million people, considering the influx of returnees to South Sudan after the Sudan Population Census 2008.
