A HIV and AIDS counsellor working in Lakes State encouraged residents to visit Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT) centres in order to know their HIV and AIDS status.
John Agar Ater told Good News Radio that that knowing one’s HIV status was the best way of facing life today.Mr. Agar added that even those who feel healthy needed go for a HIV AIDS test.
He explained that counsellors at the VCT centres were well trained to help people to cope with the test’s results.
Mr. Agar addressed the relation between tuberculosis and AIDS saying that Malteser International had the policy to test for HIV all who tested positive for TB and vice versa.
He encouraged the youth go for a HIV test to see if they needed to start AIDS treatment in order to have a long life.
A health official recently revealed that Rumbek had the highest HIV and AIDS prevalence in Greater Bahr El Ghazal region that consists of Lakes, Warrap, Western and Northern Bahr El Ghazal states.
