GoSS president appealed to parents to make sure that all their children under five years were vaccinated against polio to kick the crippling virus out of the region.

Salva Kiir Mayardit said it was a collective responsibility to owe children the right to a healthy and polio free future, GoSS website reported.

Mr. Kiir made the appeal yesterday through a statement to the media on the launch of a four-day campaign of vaccination against polio.

He called upon all state governors, chiefs, religious and community leaders as well as the humanitarian and development organizations working in the states to support the campaign through all means possible.

Mr. Kiir appealed to the health workers to do their job diligently and visit every corner of the country to ensure that no child misses out.

Between 2008 and June 2009 polio affected 64 children in South Sudan.
