GoSS and State officials are discussing strategic laboratory plans to improve health services offered to the people of southern Sudan up to 2015.

Health authorities, practitioners and planers started yesterday a five-day workshop in Juba to discuss and draw strategic plans to improve lab services across South Sudan.

GoSS Undersecretary for Health Olivia Lomoro told SCR News that lab services in southern Sudan were ineffective, used old technologies and the technicians were not well prepared.

Ms. Lomoro said specialists from Canada were supporting the government to improve lab services.

She added that good plans would attract potential donors and to cover the gaps in the health sector.

Ms. Lomoro said the strategic plan for five years would be ready at the end of the month for approval.

Ms. Lomoro explained that effective and efficient labs coupled with qualified personnel would save many lives across South Sudan.
