Eastern Equatoria minister for Parliamentary Affair issued a statement saying the one-day salary deduction for the referendum reached the grand total of 636.322,00 Sudanese Pounds for the last three months.

The fund-raising drive for the referendum among the members of Eastern Equatoria Legislative Assembly started in June and became effective in July, Emmanuel Radio reported.

Minister Clement Laku disclosed that part of the funds was already used to support the state Referendum High Committee and other preparations.

The publication of the financial report on the referendum funds followed an inquiry by the State Legislative Assembly who demanded last week to know how much money was collected.

The legislators also requested for the accounts of the referendum money to be placed for public scrutiny.
