Khartoum refuses to contribute with funds towards the referendum for self-determination of southern Sudan, an official said.

Eastern Equatoria Legislative Assembly Speaker, Ambrose Emmanuel Ocholimoi, told the House that chances of accessing funds from Khartoum were oblique.

Mr. Ocholimoi added that the SPLM was considering conducting the referendum only in South Sudan if Khartoum maintained its refusal to contribute towards the exercise.

The speaker said the State Assembly constituted a probe committee to find out the amount of money collected from salary deductions.

The MPs decided to donate the equivalent of one day of salary towards a referendum fund.
