An official from the United States aid agency called on farmers to concentrate on food production making good use of the support they receive.
Kuyu Dhel is the USAID Food, Agribusiness and Rural Market Programme contractor. He told SCR News that farmers across southern Sudan should take advantage of support they received from NGOs to boost their farming activities and production.Mr. Kuyu advised farmers to concentrate on cultivation as the backbone of their livelihood.
He called upon the farmers to reduce dependency on the NGOs and the government assistance.
In May, USAID and the Government of Southern Sudan launched Food, Agribusiness, and Rural Markets Programme to help farmers boost their skills and increase farm productivity and trade in southern Sudan.
