Polling materials to be used in the referendum are already being dispatched to the voting centres across South Sudan.

UNMIS Regional Coordinator for South Sudan, David Gressley, told journalists this afternoon that UNMIS is delivering the referendum materials on time as required by Southern Sudan Referendum Bureau.

Mr. Gressley said the UN has assigned 20 helicopters to speed up the transportation of the materials to the ten states.

The materials include office equipments and other registration stuff.

Mr. Gressley added that the Referendum Commissions asked UNMIS to take charge of the distribution of the materials before the registration begins.

Registration of eligible voters in the referendum on South Sudan self-determination kicks off on November 14 in all the ten states of southern Sudan and beyond.
