The Catholic Archdiocese of Juba started today a five-day training workshop to be able to respond to any emergency that may arise in its area.
Renee Lambert, Catholic Relief Service Emergency Programme Manager, told SCR News that the workshop was targeting priests, lay people and religious working within the Archdiocese to learn about ways to react to emergencies.
Ms. Lambert added that this was a follow-up of another training that took place in August on emergencies and disasters.
Ms. Lambert explained that the workshop will help participants to learn how to identify needs of victims of any emergency and how to help them effectively.
She added that the workshop would help the parishes of the Archdiocese of Juba to coordinate with CRS and other Catholic relief agencies.
Ms. Lambert revealed that at the end of the training parishes would be better prepared to respond to emergencies and be more effective at providing quality assistance of any kind to affected people.
The five-day workshop drew some 35 participants from all the parishes of Juba Catholic Archdiocese.
