The Diocese of Rumbek celebrated today’s memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary by involving different groups in the recitation of the rosary in the context of the initiative 101 Days of Prayer for a Peaceful Referendum in South Sudan.

Sr. Maria Gorretti, the 101 Days of Prayer committee leader for Rumbek Diocese, told Good News Radio that the initiative took place at the Holy Family Cathedral with different groups leading a decade of the rosary.

Bishop Caesar Mazzolari of Rumbek invited the faithful to pray the Rosary, thinking of the life of Jesus, and asking God to give peace to the Sudanese as they journey towards the referendum.

The 101 Days of Prayer for a Peaceful Referendum is an initiative of Solidarity with Southern Sudan with the support of the Catholic Relief Service and runs from September 21, 2010 to January 1, 2011.
