Alex Dimiti, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) national program officer for reproductive health service, told SCR News that the training will enable the ministry of health to respond to emergencies.
Dr. Dimiti mentioned that reproductive health services are often ignored in times of emergency and yet over fifty percent of the displaced are women and mostly with children.
Dr. Dimiti added that the exercise is a training of trainers and the participants are expected to acquire knowledge and offer it down to their colleagues the states.
The five-day training aims at establiishing a national team on Minimum Initial Service Package and Sexual and Reproductive Health in emergency situations and train stakeholders to come up with a comprehensive contingency plan for reproductive health in emergencies for Southern Sudan.
The training was organized by UNFPA in collaboration with the Ministry of Health in the Government of Southern Sudan.
Over 30 participants from UN Agencies and various stakeholders are attending the training.
