The Government and Churches in South Sudan discussed forms of collaboration in order to provide better services to the people of southern Sudan.

The Government of Southern Sudan (GoSS) and the Sudan Council of Churches (SCC) concluded today a three-day Forum under the theme Let’s Start Rebuilding.

SCC Secretary-General Ramadan Chan told SCR News that the two partners are moving towards a consensus on how to share roles and responsibilities to bring better services to the people of South Sudan.

Rev. Chan said that the Church raised the issues of lack of health and education services from the government’s side.

He added that GoSS challenged the Churches on equal grounds to provide better education and health facilities to the people like they did during the years of war.

The Government and the Churches will meet again to further a better collaboration between the two institutions.

The meeting was chaired by GoSS vice president Riek Machar Teny.
