SOUTH SUDAN CELBRATES WORLD TOURISM DAY AMID LACK OF FUNDS FOR INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT

As the world celebrates world tourism day, south Sudan tourism sector is still struggling to put up infrastructure to supplement the comfort of tourists, said the director General of tourism in the GoSS ministry of wildlife conservation and tourism.

Joseph Oroto told SCR news that south Sudan is gifted with a lot of tourist potential but hasn’t been fully developed due to lack of service delivery funds.

He added that un-trained personnel to implement the projects as also contributed to the failure of tourism in the region.

Mr. Oroto mentioned that the government is trying its best to establish infrastructure and by December tourist will be catered in some of the national game parks in south Sudan.

South Sudan is endowed with numerous tourist attractions, ranging from wildlife, landscape, historical sites, divers climate and culture of people. Beside the Nile, other rivers represents a major attraction and can provide avenue for tourism activities such as boating, sport fishing, bird watching site, wildlife viewing and excellent photography.
