MACHAR AND OPPOSITION LEADER DISCUSS NEED FOR SOUTH-SOUTH DIALOGUE

The Vice President of the government of southern Sudan discussed with the leader of opposition the need to call for south-south dialogue a head of the referendum in January 2011.
GoSS Vice President Dr. Riak Marchar Teny met Onyoti Adigo Akwec, leader of opposition party in southern Sudan Assembly to discuss ways of organizing a south-south dialogue conference that would include all southern political parties, civil society organization and Church leaders among others.

Speaking to SCR news this morning in Juba Mr. Onyoti Adigo said they discussed with Dr. Machar ways to organize the south- south dialogue because there is a need to approach the referendum united.

Mr. Adigo added that political affiliation of southerners should not stand as a stumbling block to the success of the referendum.

Mr. Adigo revealed that GoSS Vice President also emphasized the need of SPLM to hold dialogue with SPLM-DC.

He pointed out that President Kiir and Dr. Lam Akol will meet soon in Juba to iron out their differences before the referendum.

Mr. Adigo was elected leader of opposition party in southern Sudan Assembly two weeks back. He is a member of SPLM-DC.
