Luka Tombekana Monaje made this comment two days after his visit to the devastated area.
He told SCR news that the state is a serious disaster zone at the moment which has left more than a half of Aweil town flooded. He added that fifteen thousand families had been affected by the time of his visit adding that two more counties were affected too.
Mr. Monoja mentioned that the situation is affecting the health of the population citing diseases like diarrhea. He added that his ministry and the ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and disaster management have set up an emergency plan that will respond to the situation. He noted that shelter is highly needed.
The minster called upon the population in Northern Bahr-El-Ghazal to avoid the flooded areas which can spread disease like worms and bilharzia adding that people leaving outside the state should contact their families and comfort them.
