Voice of Peace FM Bids Farewell to Former Parish Priest

Voice of Peace Radio FM held a special farewell luncheon in honor of Father James William Silgat, the outgoing parish priest of Saints Peter and Paul Parish.

Fr. James, who served the parish for over seven years and acted as the Education Coordinator for the Nuba Mountains Pastoral Region, is being succeeded by Fr. Edward Anthony.

The event, held at the radio station, was also attended by Fr. Peter Suliman, the newly appointed Episcopal Vicar for the Nuba Mountains, who came to witness the formal handover.

Fr. Edward will now serve as the point of reference for all institutions under the parish.

The occasion also honored Brother Matteo Perroti, a technician who repaired and retuned the radio’s signal to 107.9 FM. Due to a lack of technical support and severe weather in August last year, the station’s transmitter and antenna were damaged, forcing a temporary switch to 103.5 FM in November. The FM offered Brother Matteo (right in yellow) and Fr. James (second from left behind a lady waving) gifts of local cool beverage known as kerkede.
