Sts Peter and Paul Parish in Gidel, Nuba Mountains of El Obeid Catholic Diocese on Sunday commemorated the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Assistant Parish Priest Deogratius Minja during homily told the congregation that Mary gave her body and soul for good work of God to redeem the humanity, Radio Voice of Peace reported.
He encouraged Christians not to lose hope during difficult times of hunger, diseases and killing.
Fr Minja called on the faithful to believe in God who is all the time in control of the situation even if things get worse.
The feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary which was supposed to be celebrated on Saturday August 15 was pushed to Sunday to attract more believers.
