The 11th edition of South Sudan Cup was launched in Western Bahr el Ghazal on Thursday evening where Al Hilal Wau beat Black Eagle of Aweil 3-2 at Wau Stadium.
President of South Sudan Football Association, Augustino Madut, reveals that they chose Wau for hosting Zone 1 and the official inauguration of the tournament due to its peaceful coexistence and love for sports< voice of Hope Radio reported.
He thanks the state government for using football as a bridge of restoring peace and social fabric among diverse communities of Wau.
Meanwhile, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Mohammed Ali Goni mentions that they are working closely with Local Association to ensure proper reception and wellbeing of the nine teams of zone 1.
State Governor, Sarah Cleto Hassan Rial, assures citizens of government’s commitment towards sports development in the country.
She urges all the teams to play fair football and compete in order to bring the trophy to Bahr el Ghazal.
The officials made these remarks on Thursday during the official inauguration of 11th edition of South Sudan Cup at Wau Stadium.
