Nine dead and more than 10 wounded in an attack at Rumbek North County

The authorities in Rumbek North and Tonj East counties said Saturday attack has left 9 people confirmed dead and fifteen others wounded, acting commissioner of Rumbek North county Isaiah Akhool told Good News Radio in a telephone Interview on Sunday.

Police spoke person Major Elijah Mabor Makuac says the fighting that erupted between the cattle keepers from Warrap and Rumbek North counties has caused more destruction in Maper.

Tonj East County Commissioner John Akook Chan condemns the attack and destruction on government facilities. He calls for calm from both communities.

Makuac says as per first hands report, eight people were wounded four police officers and four civilians.

He says that he received the sad news about one of the wounded succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.

Mabor says the two communities are trading accusation of the others to have started the fighting, Mabor denies the report that police station in maper is also burned to ashes.

Elijah Mabor says he was told that Luacjang attackers freed thirteen inmates of different cases in the police cells, saying amongst the freed inmates,

eight men are from Luany-jang and the rest are from Lake state.
