The Administrator of Torit State Hospital says vomiting, diarrhoea and typhoid are the major diseases recorded at the Hospital.
Francis Iwa Andruga says the main cause of these diseases is taking contaminated water directly from the River without being treated, Radio Emmanuel reported.
She is blaming Torit Urban Water Company for not supplying enough clean water to the entire population of Torit.
“At the moment when you go to the wards you will find the children are suffering from vomiting and diarrhoea in children even in adult, we too have these cases and typhoid cases are also high and respiratory and I am sure this is due to the weather you know also the water we are using I am concern about the water we are consuming here in Torit because Urban Water failed to supply the whole of this Town, they take water to specific places living the rest of the majority of the population taking water direct from the river these are the causes, things that are causing a lot of typhoid and this diarrhoea diseases if we are taking clean water and we eat good food I am sure this cases will not be there”, Iwa complains
The Hospital Administrator is urging pregnant mothers to come to the antenatal clinics for follow up to avoid complications that may occur during time of delivery.
He is calling on the mothers to always continue visiting the hospital for testing to know what condition they are having, so that serious observation can be done.
“We are urging our pregnant mothers to come for antenatal clinic to be checked whether the baby is okay or whether the baby is laying in the correct position and to also discover some of the problems that you may be having in your body things like hypertension, this things when it is discovered during delivery in most cases it kills the mother, so we are telling them to come and go through this test before delivery and if the time comes for their delivery, let them come to the hospital, he elaborates.
The Hospital Administrator made these remarks to Radio Emmanuel on Monday at Torit State Hospital.
