Sts Peter and Paul faithful in Torit Catholic Diocese honour late Bishop Akio

Sts. Peter and Paul Parish of the Catholic Diocese of Torit honour late Bishop Johnson Akio Mutek, who passed away on 18th March 18, 2013 at Aga Khan Hospital, Nairobi-Kenya.

Fr. Leonsio Omina Okwormoi, during his reflection, appreciates the parishioners and the congregation for turning up in the mass to remember the late bishop, radio Emmanuel reported.

“I want to first of all thank you for having many possible reasons for us to pray in a special way remembering our late brother, father and leader Bishop Johnson Akio Mutek who passed on March 18, 2013 that he left this world that is why I was saying because of the good thing that we have said he did in life that I think it is worth for us to give thanks”.

Fr. Omina described the late as a trusting servant who put all his trust in the Almighty God.

The priest asks Christians to build their trust in God so that everything will be possible in their lives.

“So at this time when we pray remembering Bishop Akio, I believe and trust that God should have him in his right hand and from there he must be able to watch over us and pray for us. So, for us who have come here today I like God therefore to bless you and bless us and bless all our intentions. There are many people I have mentioned that they have passed on but there are others whom nobody remembers we bring them together all under this table so that with Bishop Akio to intercedes also for us to we may always learn to be very simple, Godly, lovely and trusting always in God because when we trust in God nothing will be impossible with us. So, may therefore God through Jesus strengthen us, empower us and give us strengthen with which we can lead more people into the glory of God’s kingdom”, he says.

Late Bishop Johnson Akio Mutek was born of Lazarus Mutek and Lydia Ikoliok of Logir community on 2nd January 1958 at Tala Village in Lodwara.

He was installed as the Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Torit on 15th August 2007.

He was the second Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Torit replacing Retired Bishop Paride Taban.
