The Primary Eight candidates from different schools within Torit Municipal Council show readiness in the upcoming primary leaving exams.
According to the time table, learners will start sitting for their first paper on 14th February with English Language.
Josephine Acike from St. Theresa Nursery and Primary School advises her fellow candidates not to fear the exams since they are not new.
She asks parents to also minimize the sizes of work or duties to be given to their children in order for them to have time to revise their books.
Another pupil from the same school, Pierina Ikulang, explains that they are ready and determined to be in senior one in the next academic year.
“My advice is going to my brothers and sisters who are going to sit with us, everyone should not fear these exams these exams are what we have been taught in the class. And my advice is also going to the parents, you should not give hard work to the children, our teachers have taught us very well and we have learned enough like now we are determined to be senior one candidates, they should stop moving in peer groups they should stop moving in the DJs because most people here like most girls are getting pregnant because of moving so they should stop moving”, she appeals.
Candidate Isaac Mamur of Dumak Primary School, asks fellow pupils to be friends with their books and put more efforts in revising their notes.
Another pupil from the same school, Emmanuel Ben, says he moves with his book wherever he is going, even when going to bathe at the river.
“To other pupils of other schools read hard for better results, don’t just leave your books alone like that, when you go from the school you should open your books and read so that it prepares you for the final examinations, don’t play too much, do not move at night, don’t move with wrong groups of gangs. I am ready to sit my examinations and am well prepared am sure of myself because am struggling to study hard every day every day every night am competing with my books, even in the school even at home even everywhere even when am going to bed I take my books and I revise from there”, he elaborates.
Torit East Primary School candidates express their readiness that they are prepared hundreds percent for the coming examinations, urging other pupils to avoid malpractices.
Some say this is not time for candidates to move at night, but should stay at home while preparing for Monday and parents should not overload them with work especially girls.
“Let them leave chance maybe after exams they will come and work but this time let them not disturb their children and am saying to them that they should not be depending on linkage they should their books hard in order for them to pass/I would like to tell them not to fear this examination because is not the first time to sit for examination all since from Pre-unit up to primary eight they are all doing examination am encouraging them to revise hard so that they will do the best in this PLE/you have to study at home don’t walk at night/am prepared 100%”, they say.
The candidates were speaking to Radio Emmanuel from their respective schools in Torit, Eastern Equatoria State on Thursday.
