DOR concludes learners training on child protection & safeguarding in Tonj

On Saturday, Catholic Dioceses of Rumbek concluded the three-day training for learners of both Don Bosco and St. Bakhita primary, secondary schools on Child Protection and safeguarding.

The theme was to enlighten the children more especially the pupils to know their rights and to bring awareness to the public.

John Malou, CDOR Child rights & Protection Officer said that the purpose of training was bring awareness to the children and the society of their rights in order to have opportunity to ask for their rights and report when violated.

Malou denotes that it is the duty of every institution and the entire country to respect the rights of Children because they are the future of the society and if they are exploited then it’s is going to affect the betterment of the society.

Meanwhile John Maluk Theem, Project Office assured the learners that they have rights to be protected from sexual, emotional, physical abuses and when they face negligence they ought to educate their parents and their colleagues after this training.

Maluk said that children’s rights should be protected by parents, teachers, church leaders, government and by the child him/herself.

In addition, Abraham Chol one of facilitators urged the learners to know their rights besides many other basic rights, rights to life and right to education.

He advised the learners to bring back the dropout learners and carry on the knowledge they have gained to next generation.

The Participants from both Don Bosco and St Bakhita primary schools expressed their gratitude and assured to be agents to bring awareness about their rights and duties.
