Juba City Council bans sale and distributions of toxic liquors and opium

Juba City Council has partially banned the sales, distribution and consumption of toxic beverages and harmful drugs.

Mayor Michael Lodu Thomas Allah-Jabu in his local order says high level of crime within juba city is triggered partial ban of alcoholic beverages.

He explains that the banned alcohol in Juba City include beer, drugs and strong spirit such as Royal Gin, Rhino Waragi, Chief Gin and London No 1.

The mayor also banned harmful drugs like opium, Marungi, Marijuana among others, are not allowed.

The Juba city Mayor added that alcohol shall not be consumed or sold in residential houses, small shops, tea places or local eating places within Juba City Council.

He stresses that the local order is to regulate the consumption, sales and distribution of alcoholic beverages, beers drugs and spirits within the city and the sale of alcoholic beverages to underage is totally abolished under any circumstances.

‘” Places like hotels, whole sale agents, bars, lodges, guesthouses and first-class restaurants shall be the only spots to sell alcoholic beverages, beers and spirits, but in compliance to the Juba City Council”.

He says no other police division, sector commander or any security organ will take the responsibility of inspection, fines and confiscation, without the consent of authorities of Juba City Council.

“Any arrest of whoever is selling illegally or confiscations must be brought to the attention of Juba City Council within juba city council headquarters, Kator Block Council or Munuki Block Council.” Mayor Lodu explains.

The order also discourages packaging of spirits and beverages in small volume as 100 ml and instructed to review their packaging modality in immediate effect.
