Agergum Primary School head teacher said lack of chalk can lead to the closure of schools in Lakes State.

A number of schools in Rumbek ran short of chalk and exercise books, including Rumbek Nation Secondary School.

Makur Chol Majok told Good News Radio on Saturday that since the new academic year started schools faced lack of chalk, pens, exercise books and textbooks.

He said the issue of text books was solved but schools will be closed if the Ministry does not supply chalk and exercise books.

Mr Makur told the Government to work closer with the NGOs that help in the education sector to assist the Ministry with scholastic materials to end rumours that the schools could close due to lack of chalk.

This was the second time to hear in Rumbek that schools were running out of chalk leaving pupils and students in fear about the future of their lessons.
