DR Congolese refugees in Morobo County of Central Equatoria State have begun receiving one-month emergency food rations donated by WFP, the UN World Food Program, to alleviate some of the challenges they face.

Morobo County Commissioner Moses Simon Soro told the media in Yei on Tuesday that the food distribution followed an increasing influx of refugees fleeing rebel attacks in DR Congo border areas, Radio Easter reported.

He said the county authority is also distributing land for the refugees to cultivate and their children are enrolling in the local primary schools.

The Commissioner said the number of DR Congolese refugees increased lately but he added that he did not have concrete figures.

He noted that the situation in the area was relatively calm.
