A teachers training team arrived at Morobo County of Central Equatoria to ask the education department to identify 15 teachers for in-service training during the school holidays.
Morobo County Commissioner Moses Simon Soro encouraged teachers to accept the training because education transforms lives and it is the only way through which people can move out of poverty, the country pressman told CRN via e-mail.The Commissioner added that only those who can read, write and do arithmetic can hope for a better life since nowadays most opportunities are for the educated.
County Education Director Hakim Alfred Justo appreciated the initiative.
He said most of the teachers in Morobo County were not professionally trained.
Mr Alfred explained that the training will not affect the teaching programs because it will be conducted during the holidays.
The Education Director encouraged the State Ministry of Education to increase the number of teachers to be trained.
He asked the program to be upgraded to diploma level so that teachers pick an interest.
