Warrap Prison Services received five new vehicles but has no budget for fuel.
Tonj South Central Prison Director Fadela Majok Mabior told Don Bosco Radio that the new vehicles arrived on Tuesday in Tonj and would be taken to Kuajok to be distributed among prison wardens across Warrap State. He explained that the vehicles were bought with money from the prison warden’s salaries being withheld each month by the Government.
He said the Prison Services wanted to buy seven cars but the money was enough only for five.
Mr Mabior said the vehicles will be used to transport prisoners and move personnel and whatever is necessary for the prison service.
He disclosed that the service does not have budget for fuel and maintenance but it hoped to receive support from local and state authorities.
Mr Mabior said the new vehicles that arrived in Tonj made everyone very happy with music, dancing and celebrating.
He added that it was a positive sign for the development of Tonj South County and Warrap State Prison Service.
