The US Ambassador to South Sudan called for dialogue in Jonglei to end the violence following her visit to the state last week.

Ambassador Susan Page visited Bor, Pibor, Akobo and Uror counties in Jonglei State and met with government officials, community leaders and the people affected by the violence.

She said the U.S. Embassy remained deeply concerned about continued violence against civilians perpetrated by David Yau Yau’s insurgency, SPLA elements and youth groups engaged in inter-tribal hostilities.

She urged all parties to engage in dialogue and work to resolve their conflicts peacefully.

The U.S. Ambassador also called on all officials and communities throughout Jonglei State to end inflammable rhetoric against other tribal groups and, instead, encourage dialogue between parties to the conflicts.
