The Sudanese Government has agreed to send home 852 South Sudanese prisoners convicted for minor offenses.
Acting Government spokesperson Madut Biar said 216 inmates arrive in Juba on Monday with airfares paid by the Sudanese Government.Mr Biar said the Government of South Sudan has to foot the bill of the remaining 636 people.
He added that they will be flown directly to Malakal, Wau and Juba.
The Minister said the prisoners were released after negotiations with the Sudanese Government.
He added that the repatriation of prisoners sentenced for serious offenses is yet to be discussed.
