SPLA-N CLAIMS TO HAVE ENTERED KURMUK

The Sudan People’s Liberation Army-North or SPLA-N said its forces entered Kurmuk, in Blue Nile State, and were fighting the local garrison.

SPLA-N spokesperson Arnu Ngutulu Lodi said the rebels were pressurizing the demoralized government forces and militias that suffered heavy casualties.

He added that SPLA-N forces would maintain its pressure until Kurmuk was fully liberated.

The Sudanese military denied the claims.

Kurmuk is a strategic town in Blue Nile State, near the Ethiopian border that was taken by the Government forces in November 2011.

Last week, SPLA-N overran the Sudanese army in Mufu, on the way to Kurmuk.
