TWO UNIVERSITIES TO GET FACE LIFT WITH CHINESE LOANS

The national government announced that it will use a loan from China to upgrade the universities of Juba and Upper Nile.

Telecommunications minister Madut Biar Yel explained to reporters after Friday’s Council of Ministers that the five national universities needed upgrade works in their infrastructures and environments.

He work will start in universities of Juba and Upper Nile during the current year to attract national or foreign students.

Mr Biar explained that a donor pledged money to build Rumbek University.

He said Dr John Garang Memorial University and Bahr El Ghazal University would also be upgraded.

The minister explained that the cabinet endorsed five public universities: Juba, Upper Nile, Bahr El Ghazal, Dr John Garang Memorial and Rumbek.

The proposed universities of Torit and Yambio would be introduced in the future.
