A 32-year old woman was arrested suspected of snatching a five-day old baby from Torit State Hospital on month ago.

Kenyan national Alia Nakine was arrested by security operatives at Owinykibul as she tried to escape to Uganda, Radio Emmanuel reported.

She claimed she gave birth to the baby in her possession but neighbours became suspicious because she used only bottle feeding instead of giving breast milk to the baby.

Security officials said Eastern Equatoria Governor Louis Lobong Lojore would release details about the detention.

Mr Lobong issued a decree to set up a committee to conduct investigation on the theft of the baby.
