The Speaker of the National Legislative Assembly on Thursday visited Juba City Council and urged the councillors to focus on administration and fight corruption.
James Wani Igga said Juba City Council was the eye and the root of the Government, Bakhita Radio reported.He said a government without the support of the local authorities is like a tree without roots.
Speaker Igga added that every citizen had to support the development of the country after the independence.
Juba City Legislative Council Chairperson Michael Allah-Jabu said the Speaker’s visit was a historical event enabling the councillors to focus on administration issues.
He added that the Speaker explained how to administer and prevent corruption and to prepare a plan to scrutinise the Council’s budget and its execution.
Speaker Igga called on the City Council to form a youths and students club to help monitoring and reporting corruption related cases to the councillors.
