The Pope posted two tweets on Lent in his Twitter page before he started his annual retreat on Sunday evening.
On Ash Wednesday, Pope Benedict wrote: “During the season of Lent which begins today, we renew our commitment to the path of conversion, making more room for God in our lives.”On Sunday, he added another message: “Lent is a favourable time in which to rediscover faith in God as the foundation of our lives and of the Church’s life.”
Pope Benedict is using his Twitter page Pontifex (meaning Pontiff or Pope in Latin) since December 12, 2012 to post his thoughts and messages in nine languages.
The Pope retires on February 28 due to old age and related health issues.
