The Council of Ministers on Friday approved the petroleum and mining policies presented by the Minister of Petroleum and Mining, Stephen Dhieu Dau.
Government spokesperson Barnaba Marial Benjamin told the press on Friday that the Cabinet also endorsed the plants protection policies presented by the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, Betty Achan Ogwaro.Dr Marial said the Cabinet listened to the report on security situation in Jonglei state presented personally by Governor Kuol Manyang Juuk.
He added that the Cabinet expressed condolences to the families of the people killed in Akobo West and Walgak areas by David Yau Yau’s rebels.
Dr Marial said the Cabinet recommended strong measures to end Yau Yau’s rebellion.
He said Vice President Riek Machar Teny will report the recommendations to President Salva Kiir to end Yau Yau’s rebellion and continue with the disarmament process.
Dr Machar chaired the Council of Ministers.
