The Justice and Peace Commission Coordinator in the Catholic Diocese of Wau said intermarriages can work best as tools to create peace among tribal communities in South Sudan.

Natalina Andrea Mabo made the statement on Thursday during the closing session of the Wau Youth Conference that gathered over 100 young men and women for reconciliation and peaceful co-existence, Voice of Hope reported.

Mama Natalina said intertribal marriages bring a high chance of unity and peace among communities.

She advised the young people to struggle to bring changes into the society starting from their own hearts.

Mama Natalina stressed that love is the roadmap for peace and reconciliation.

She cautioned the youth not to be misled by politicians and always work for the common good.

The Wau Youth Conference came at a time when wounds of violence are still fresh in the hearts of people following December’s deadly protests against the relocation of Wau County headquarters.
