The National Health Ministry is sending 15 nurses to Kenya to be trained in anaesthesia for one and half years.
The nurses will study at Kijabe Hospital Nursing School, Bakhita Radio reported.International Finance Corporation Operation Officer Jean Lubega told the press in Juba that the African Mission Healthcare Foundation provided the scholarships.
She said South Sudan is lacking nurses in the critical area of anaesthesia.
Director General for Training in the Health Ministry Gabriel Gatwich Daniel said there were few nurses to administer anaesthesia during surgical operations.
He added that there is a dire need to train more nurses to work in anaesthesia.
Mr Gatwich said the nursing school offered to train three batches of 15 students each after which the training would be transferred to South Sudan.
