The head chief of Parajok Payam in Magwi County, Eastern Equatoria, asked the Vice President of the Republic to open a road to connect the payam with the county and supply food to the markets.

Chief Michael Oyuru Okech told the press after meeting the Vice President Riek Machar Teny on Thursday that he came to meet the government to discuss road, land clearance and border issues.

He said Parajok falls on green belt, South of Magwi County, the land is fertile and people depend on cultivation because they do not have cattle.

Mr Oyuru added that this year the area had a very good harvest of sorghum, corn and sweet potatoes but there were no roads to bring the produce to the markets.

He said the people were very sad that there was hunger in Kapoeta while there was plenty of food in Parajok but no road to transport the produce.

Mr Oyuru said he informed the Vice President about land clearance for cultivation because the trees are very big and nobody can remove them with bare hands to open space for big scale cultivation.

He added that the Vice President agreed to help the community.

Chief Oyuru added he informed the Dr Machar on the issue of Limu border with Uganda.

He said it was time Ugandan soldiers left the area since the LRA war stopped.
