Some 30 highly experienced civil servants from the ministry of education in Western Bahr El Ghazal were listed off due to a 2011presidential decree which permits termination of contracts of civil servants who contested in April 2010 election.

State Education Minister Adil Athanasius Surur told the media that his ministry was the most affected with over 30 active staffs kicked off, Voice of Hope reported.

He said though the civil servants lost their positions, the ministry will find ways of enrolling them as teachers since they have skills that are most needed.

Mr Athanasius pointed out that much more is needed to improve the standard of English in all schools in the state.

He said to meet the gap the ministry organized intensive English lessons for the primary school leavers joining senior one and for those already in senior two to prepare them for 2014 South Sudan School Certificate.

Mr Athanasius called on all the students and parents to contribute financially for the success of the English intensive course.
