Lainya County in Central Equatoria formed a new financial committee to control its accounts.

Commissioner Huda Michael Laila said the management and the control of finances in the county was poor, blocking the conduct of her activities including tours around the payams, Radio Easter reported.

She called for transparency and cooperation from all departments.

Deputy controller of accounts Daniel Ladu explained that 40 percent of the county revenue comes from Lainya Payam.

He complained that the demand for money was higher than the income generated in the county.

County planning officer Jane Jambi blamed the account section and its administration for failing to follow the budget.

She clarified that she was always called during planning but neglected during the implementation and that resulted in misunderstandings within the system.

All heads of departments met at the County Headquarters to prepare the new committee.
