A Catholic charity is planning to conduct a massive community awareness campaign on conflict early warning and early response in Eastern Equatoria and Upper Nile states in a bid to arrest conflict and allow development.

Catholic Relief Service or CRS Conflict Early Warning and Early Response System Officer Asam Francis Mark Odor told CRN on Wednesday that the program aims to ensure that the communities own and understand early warning systems for their own benefit.

Mr Francis encouraged all the South Sudanese to ensure that conflict is kicked out of the country for people to focus on developmental issues instead.

He explained South Sudan has the people and the resources to reach the level of advanced countries if it clears out conflicts which hinder development.

Mr Francis emphasized that conflict early warning is the responsibility of every individual and should not be left to the government or the nongovernment organizations.

He called on the people of South Sudan to own, accept and love conflict early warning programmes, pass information to all communities and report any conflict on the ground.
