A couple at Juba Teaching Hospital on Thursday expressed joy for receiving their first baby boy on the second day of Christmas.
A young mother, Lona Elisa told CRN that she was happy to deliver her first born boy now named Emmanuel a day after Jesus Christ was born. She said her delivery was natural, but that she experienced much pain.
Ms Elisa advised young girls not to get pregnant before they are fully matured because underage pregnancy is very dangerous and it could kill.
Robert Evelino, the father of new baby said it was great to welcome his baby when the whole world celebrates the birth of Christ.
He explained that he received a call at night that his wife was taken to hospital and he came to be with her until she delivered at 7 o’clock in the morning on Wednesday.
Mr Evelino called on parents to work hard to build good future for their kids because children are the future of the country.
A Nurse in Charge of Maternity Ward, Sarah Amito, explained that on Christmas day 17 women delivered naturally and that two women had caesarean operations, but were successful.
She added that only one case resulted to death of the baby due to distress because the mother tried to deliver at home and when the midwife could not manage because the baby was big she sent her to the hospital but it was too late.
Ms Amito added there was also a case where a school girl bled to death while delivering because she was brought very late to the hospital.
