State government of Western Bahr El-Ghazal has refuted claims by the citizens that President Salva Kiir Mayardit has relieved Governor Rizik Zachariah Hassan.
State minister for Information, Derik Alfred Uya told the press that celebrations broke out in Wau town on Thursday evening when wild rumours spread that the governor had been removed and the whole government changed.He clarified that the governor is on his usual duties while warning wrong elements against misleading the citizens.
The Minister said the situation in Wau is calm and that businessmen are free to open the market.
He said the investigation team is assessing loses of Wednesday incident where several houses were burned in Wau.
The Minister made this statement after the Council of ministers’ meeting on how to reconcile the grieved communities.
