POLICE INSPECTOR APPEALS FOR CALM IN WAU

South Sudan Police Inspector-General has appealed for calm to allow the police investigate and apprehend perpetrators in Wau, Western Bahr El- Ghazal State.

Acuil Tito Madut regretted the loss of lives of innocent civilians in the last incidents of Wau which would have been resolved through dialogue.

He made the appeal on Thursday while launching Nationality, Passport and Immigration office in Wau.

Mr. Tito strongly cautioned his subordinates against taking side in any case but to protect lives and properties of the citizens.

He blamed some of the police in Western Bahr El-Ghazal for taking sides in Wau incidents which claimed many lives.

Mr. Tito warned that after investigation, those officers found involved in any way will face the law.

A Number of houses in Wau were burnt down on Wednesday by a group of angry protesters in Darja and Lokoloko areas while riot police kept on repelling them.
