JEREMIAH CUP TOURNAMENT KICKS OFF IN YIROL

Authorities of Yirol County in Lake State have organized footbal and volleyball cups tournament for the youth of the two Counties of Yirol to compete and show their talents.

Ater Jeremiah, a member of the national Parliament named the tournament, Jeremiah Cup Tournament to remember his father Jeremiah who died in Yirol County during the struggle days.

Maker Nhial Kariom, Senior Inspector for Culture Youth and Sports confirmed that, the tournament began in Yirol this week, and that there are 16 teams competing in football and other 16 teams are competing for volleyball, Good News Radio reported.

Mr Kariom said the tournament is very helpful to the youth because it is keeping them busy from harmful activities.

Mr Kariom cited some challenges facing his office including lack of playing grounds.

The tournament is expected to end on December 26 2012 where football winner will take 3,000 South Sudanese pounds and Volleyball winner will take 1,800 South Sudanese pounds.
