MPS CONDEMN WEEKEND PROTEST KILLING

Western Bahr El-Ghazal state members of the Legislative Assembly have condemned the weekend protest killing that left many people dead.

The MPs described the incident as unlawful.

MP John Richard Ukele, of Baggari East constituency number ten on Thursday moved a motion regarding the current situation in Wau County.

Mr. Richard condemned the killing of the civilians by the army and said the government has to be made accountable.

Mr. Pasquale Francis Fama another State MP from the SPLM Party list said the army is not mistaken because they are following orders.

He stressed that the state governor acted with impunity for ordering the killing of the citizens.

Mr. Francis stated that Wau County issue is not a tribal one, pointing at the State policy makers as propagating tribal fight by showing false films in the state assembly.

Hassan Ngor, from Wau north, revealed that division five, army commander in Wau denied having sent any soldier to kill the civilians which he said has to be investigated.

He blamed the state Council of Ministers for not sending representatives to talk to the demonstrators even if the protest was done on Sunday.

State Legislative Assembly Speaker, Andrea Mayar Acho called on Wau community to be calm as the assembly gets amicable solution.

He said the assembly will form an independent committee to talk with the people of Wau County and that they will summon the state security advisor and the Local Government Minister to answer questions on the incident.

The state Legislative Assembly members raised these concerns during the deliberation on a motion submitted on recent weekend killings that claimed many lives.

The state assembly members expressed their heartfelt condolence to all the grieved families who lost their dear ones.
