The South Sudan Save the Children on Thursday organised a national conference of children to discuss issues on education, child protection, environment and hunger.
Save the Children, Child Rights Governance Advisor Joseph Geng Aketch told Bakhita Radio that the conference aimed at bringing children together to identify common problems facing them.He said the children will address their views to stakeholders so that they get first hand information that will facilitate policy formulation on children in South Sudan.
Mr Geng added that the results of the four thematic areas that the children are discussing will be presented to the members of the parliament and the NGOs.
He said the idea that the children will develop will be used by policy makers as a national document for children.
Mr Geng said national conference followed state level children’s conference organised by Save the Children in Jonglei, Northern Bahr El Ghazal and Lake States earlier this year.
The conference brought together children and Directors for Gender Child and Social Welfare from Jonglei, Northern Bahr El Ghazal, Upper Nile, Lake and Central Equatoria States.
