South Sudan membership to East African Community (EAC) is not blocked, but the country has to meet the membership criteria.
Grace Daterio, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Relations said South Sudan application is referred to EAC Council of Ministers for further discussions.She said EAC did not block South Sudan membership but it had to hold discussion and come up with common agreements.
Ms Daterio said South Sudan is now waiting to hear the final result from the council as way forward for discussion.
She said South Sudan needs to learn from some of the East African Countries as it waits for official membership procedure.
The South Sudan Law Society and University of Juba Centre for Peace and Development organised a three-day seminar to enhance the understanding of regional integration in to EAC.
